Bridger Bowl ski area gets a large amount of snowfall in winter, with the snow being extremely dry. Occasionally, the snow has less than 3% water content. When the snow is this dry, the locals refer to it as Cold Smoke.
Bridger Bowl’s Cold Smoke is just one of the reasons that this area is exceptional for skiing.
This abundance of very dry snow is created by the Bridger Bowl Cloud, which is a result of the air mass moving from lower elevation to higher elevation as it moves over the Bridger Mountain Range.
